According to CNN, over 40% of Greenland experienced melting with total ice loss estimated to be more than 2 gigatons (equal to 2 billion tons) on just Thursday alone. It does sound scary! Because it is scary.

In fact, the total area is 2.166 million km2 and the melting is giving serious warnings that our planet is getter hotter each year.

Should not we worry about the rising sea level or increasing human population? Now, we should worry.

Greenland is a continent that’s built with ice, it is highly unusual to be lost 2 billion tons of ice all of sudden in June. In records, the average melting season starts in June and ends in August with bulk melting in the season’s end.

But what we are experiencing is not the natural phenomenon working, that’s the trapped heat on earth doing the deeds.

It does not matter if you are an environmentalist or a guy sitting inside a cornered room in a crowded city. The melting is affecting everyone and with this progress downwards, we are going to lose lives and lands.

While speaking to CNN, Thomas Mote, a research scientist at the University of Georgia claimed that “This phenomenon is unusual, not unprecedented.”

Further, he quoted on the situation that’s surprising the world, “We’ve seen a sequence of these large melt seasons, starting in 2007, that would have been unprecedented earlier in the record.”

“Greenland has been an increasing contributor to global sea level rise over the past two decades and surface melting and runoff is a large portion of that,” he added.

After the 2012 melting record, it is possible that we have got a new record in 2019, and it’s not good at all.
